Viennese pianist Johanna Kam is an emerging artist with a promising future: whether she is performing solo or contributing in various artistic projects such as chamber music and videography, Johanna is leaving the audience with a taste of inner joy. This upcoming season, Johanna will give her first solo recital at the „Gesellschaft für Musiktheater“ in Vienna.
In addition to performing classical music, Johanna is also passionate about experimenting with other art forms. She produces music videos on YouTube combining motion graphics with her unique pop arrangements written together with her twin sister Dorothea Kam, performed by a rotating cast of classical and jazz musicians. In October 2020, she was selected to produce a music video for the renowned management conference “Global Peter Drucker Forum” among 16 international musicians, in which she displayed the synergetic power of music and visual arts.
Since the age of 9, Johanna has won first prizes at the Austrian Youth Music Competition „Prima la musica“, both as a soloist as well as a piano duo together with Dorothea. Awarded with a special prize in 2012, 2016 and 2017, she was invited to perform at the Steinway House Vienna. Another award includes first prize at the 1st International Piano and Chamber Music Competition „Edelweiss“ in 2017.
Johanna started playing the piano and the violin at the age of 7, later she also received jazz-drum lessons. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance & Piano Pedagogy at the University of Music and Arts of the City of Vienna with Prof. Klaus Sticken.
Besides music, Johanna is highly interested in technology and also studied mathematics for a year. Recently, she has written her seminar paper on „Mathematical Fascination in Olivier Messiaen‘s Music“, discovering his compositional structure, based on mathematical principles.
