At the end of the 17th century Antoine Forqueray was regarded beside Marin Marais as the most important viol virtuoso of his time. Both were “ordinaires de la chambre du roi” and yet they were very opposing in their character. Hubert le Blanc made the point: Marais played like an angel and Forqueray like a devil. This program is dedicated to the spectacular works of the genial “diable de la viole”, inspired by italian violin virtuosos.
